Claire's work combines fantastical illustration with human emotion through large-scale wood-cut prints of dragons. Her goal is to create highly detailed dragons and other mythical creatures that represent different human emotions through symbolism, facial expressions, sharp contrast, and body language. Negative emotions can feel overwhelming or larger-than-life dragons represent the scale and power an emotion such as anger, anxiety, or jealousy can have over a person. These artworks cover the wall with layers of detail and meaning that allow the viewer to associate an emotion that is more personal to them with the piece.
In addition to the prints, she also creates small paper pixies that accompany each dragon, telling an antagonist narrative between the self (dragon) and ones negative inner thoughts (Pixies). Each piece is a narrative representation of an emotional experience portrayed through a fantastical perspective and dragon character. she intends for her pieces to excite all audience members, especially those who love seeing fantasy in a fine-art setting and can recognize or relate to the emotions portrayed.
